Homecare By Design is making strides in the senior care field by working every day to find ways to become the ‘Employer of Choice’ for the best and brightest Caregivers in the area. Did you know that one the biggest struggles for nearly ALL employers in the senior care & health care industries is Employee Turnover? This problem causes major administrative costs (recruiting, on-boarding, and training new employees), employee dissatisfaction (due to stress of scheduling and staffing), and customer dissatisfaction with their continuity of care due to frequent staffing changes. Unlike corporate organizations, Homecare By Design is a small family business with the flexibility to be proactive and innovative to reduce this issue as much as possible, creating a better work culture for our staff and improving customer care and satisfaction.
First and foremost, we focus on a company culture of integrity, compassion, and positive attitude, from the moment an individual applies for a job, through training, management, and every meeting. We provide a competitive starting wage, but don’t just grant random bonuses to get people to stay – we give incentives and bonuses based on merit for attendance and performance. This encourages our employees who give it their best to keep doing their best, and challenges all of our staff to aim higher than just ‘showing up’ for work. We have multiple ongoing recognition programs where Caregivers and administrative staff can give a shout-out when they see each other going above-and-beyond, and other fun programs which include prizes and parties (even parties for staff families!).
President and Founder, Traci Goudy, RN, has recognized the pattern of how Employee Turnover affects not just employees and customers, but the healthcare industry as a whole. We welcome any feedback or suggestions from our employees (past or present!), customers, and other individuals who have ideas or constructive remarks so that we can continue to be the Employer of Choice for the best Caregivers in the area, and hopefully create a better culture for the senior care industry altogether!
